A webpage is a source you assign to a knowledge set. Assistants that use the set answer from it. For sets, items, and sitemaps, see Knowledge.

How webpages become knowledge

Replify reads the page with a new reader that pulls much more complete information, then turns it into items. Related information is grouped into one item. For example:
  • All of your gym hours
  • The full amenities list
  • All of your pricing
Your assistant uses only a few items per question, so one complete item answers better than several fragments. See Items. To add several pages at once, start from a sitemap and assign each page to a set. A sitemap is not a source. See Sources.

See what was read

Open the source on the By source tab and select ⋯ > View page content. The preview is text only. Images are not shown.

Re-read schedule

Each webpage can stay up to date on a schedule, so you don’t refresh it by hand. Re-read now runs immediately. On a weekly or monthly page, it is an extra re-read. The schedule continues as usual. Change the schedule under ⋯ > Settings.

What happens on a re-read

Written knowledge and locked items stay as they are.

Focus instruction

A focus instruction is optional. Replify adds it to the built-in instructions every time the page is read.
Focus on class times; ignore club promos.
Set it when you add the page, or later under ⋯ > Settings.

Lock items to protect your edits

Lock a website item after you correct something the website gets wrong. On the next re-read, the locked item stays as you wrote it, and no duplicate is created for that information.
  • One item: select the lock icon in the Locked column.
  • Several items: select them, then choose Lock from re-read. On the By set and All items tabs, this is under Advanced.
Only website items can be locked.
To keep a fact out for good while it is still on your website, turn the item off and lock it.

Pages added before this release

Websites added on the previous Knowledge page were read once. They are not on a re-read schedule. To keep one up to date, add the page again with a schedule, then delete the old source.

If a page can’t be read

Last read failed means the items already read from that source stay as they are. A security service, such as Cloudflare, usually causes this by blocking automated access. You can:
  • Ask your website team to allow access for a short time, then select Re-read now.
  • Print the page to PDF and upload it as a document.
  • Copy the key information and add it with Write knowledge.
